Hi all,
I am looking for +1, got an xc mountain bike but would like to add a flat bar hybrid more suited to road use. Light and fast as good a spec as i can get, have looked at a friends Cannondale bad boy 2 and this is the sort of thing I am after. Quite like the fact that the bad boy has a small amount of front fork travel suspension for comfort; how much should I value this as I have not had a full rigid since I was a kid? Heard good things about specialized sirrus on here, would I miss the disc brakes if I go down the v route?

anyway basically I want the moon on stick.....I want it all, looking at up to £1000 but can be flexable if the right bike shows up.

So, what are your thoughts.......

Whyte Cambridge or Sterling, disc brakes, carbon fork, 10kg or less  British company (very well known for MTBs) I have the former, fantastically comfortable on the awful roads around here (not far off my carbon roadbike).

This company has some deals on the Cambridge http://www.discountcyclesdirect.co....ID=333&CSS_ID=0&P_MIN=0&P_MAX=10000&MF_ID=231

Suspension adds weight, even with it locked, it'll slow you down. Bad boys don't have suspension I think?

Otherwise, why not get a rooadbike like the Giant Defy 1?

Definitly xc (cross country) not cyclocross ( cx), but thanks anyway. Thanks Vickster will have a look at the links now.
The bad boy does have front sus but it is a 50mm travell located between the stem and the forks not built into the forks so it keeps the weight down. It is just a single cylinder sus system.

Not really after a drop bar bike as I quite like the comfort of the flat bar position.

PLanet X used to do a flatbar carbon bike for a grand, would be comfy. Can't see on their site anymore but might be worth a buzz if of interest

I have the Sirrus Elite and love it, if you can afford it I would definitely go with discs over rim brakes, but you could go up to the Sirrus Comp, same frame as the Elite but I think it comes with 105 group set, the Elite is Tiagra. RRP I think is £900 for the Comp and £750 for the Elite.
