hi all,

i live in hilly rossendale. i love the hilly rides, but i fancy something flat for a change. was thinking of blackpool bispham. i'm not bothered, as long as i can drive, ride, drive home in a day. i might be able to do 60 or 70 miles so an option of extending would be good. something interesting would be good.

cheers

How much does it cost to Oldham?
From yours to Jodrell bank would be a good one. For a rolling ride, I like home-rochdale-littleboro-Tod-That cafe on the outskirts or burnley-over the tops-rochdale-home. Near as damn it spot on 50 miles for me as well.

Or over round Pilling and Cockerham is nice and flat. Very good bakery in Knott End on Sea, it's on the right as you go into the village - Quinns, two cakes and a double espresso for about two fifty.

Round by Fleetwood and down to Thornton Cleveleys is a good way of extending it, the prom leading into Blackpool is very nicely done up.

Or go up to Lancaster via the cycle path at Conder Green.

All flat - pancake flat.

Im quite the opposite in that I ride to rossendale for the hills!

After looping back however the A6 is very flat and can branch off to do multiple routes.

Shaun - it's Hollingworth Lake.

If you would like me to knock up a 50 mile Cheshire route for you, I have GPX files from several audax rides that I did out there. It shouldn't take me long.

Actually, there are probably loads on Bikely (etc.) already, but if you can't find a suitable one, let me know and I'll plot one from somewhere near a motorway junction so it's easy for you to drive to.

I'm turning the PC off now, but I'll check back tomorrow.

Shaun, Glasson Dock is a great target for a ride and from there you can nip up the cycleway through Lancaster and beyond, which is pleasant and interesting.

Shaun stop pretending you like rossendale and just do the hills! ;)

It could be worse and you are colin who has to negotiate Hebdon area every time he goes out!

yeah but colin doesn't have a 3 mile 15% drag to get up every time i leave home, coz i live on a hill. and it's always windy, that's why the wind surfers use the res. to get off my estate is a 300m 20%.

i do like the hills, i really do. and don't forget my road bike is a heavy brompton
