I cycle a lot on shared use paths and if I call out "excuse me" to pedestrians I'm not always heard. I have a bell which is tiny and tinny and people either don't hear it at all, or seem very startled by it. I mostly want to use a bell/horn to politely let people know I'm coming through without startling them, because most of the pedestrians are very pleasant and friendly. Just all over the path!
The other day I heard a cyclist coming towards me and s/he had a horn that gave three rising notes. It was loud enough for me to hear as I approached from a little way away and it sounded pleasantly musical. The pedestrians gave way with smiles on their faces.
Does anyone know where I can find a horn like this?
