Hi

I bought a bike with SRAM Rival groupset last week and on only my second ride I noticed I couldn't up shift on my front ring and could also hear a slight clicking sound as i pedaled. I rode for about 20 more miles straight to the bike shop where they said that the crank arm had loosened and tightened it up for me. My question is this: Is it likely that riding for 20 miles on it will have caused permanent damage to the cranks? Also, should the crank arm be coming loose after only 50 miles of riding from new? If it does turn out to be damaged I'm just wondering if the shop should pay for the replacement.

Thanks

I've probably done 4000+ miles on SRAM equipped bikes and never had a crankarm loosen (to my knowledge)

The questions you have would be best addressed to the shop where you bought the bike if you are concerned

It happens sometimes - on a new bike all nuts/bolts/fastenings etc should be checked after a couple of shakedown rides. Unlikely to have caused any damage
