loose headset

Morning. Just got a new bike. messed around with handlebars and stem this morning, trying to find best fit and now headset seems loose. (if you face the bike front on, with wheel jammed between knees, you can wobble the headset back and forth by pulling and pushing on handlebars). Any ideas how I can correct this please?
