Don't know how it happened but riding in to work this morning my right eye felt a bit funny, i thought my eye was just watering a bit but found out later my soft contact lens had come out and i wiped it away thinking it was just my eye watering.
It is now going to take 10 days to get a replacement lens and to top it off i may need to get it shipped out to me in America as i leave for the states next Monday and i will be gone for 3 weeks and i want to wear my lenses when i am over there.

Has anyone ever lost a soft contact lens before. I have never had this problem in 15 years of wearing lenses...

yes a couple of times. But they where dailies so I always carry spares.
For my commute I now wear prescription cycling glasses from Optilabs.

Well worth it though. And they are transitions lenses.
They will also send you a few frames of your choice to check before buying.

Yep, had this early on when I started to wear lenses about 2 years ago. soon learned that poking around or rubbing sleepy eyes could eject a lenses so now keep away from my eyes when they are in. Strangely, even though advised not to wear them for showering/swimming, I do but never lose one even though you think they would be washed out.

I use monthly disposables and always keep the previous months set in the bathroom cabinet so if I lose one I can replace it with one of the old ones as a temporary botch. The opticians probably wouldn't recommend it but it works for me on the rare occasion one dissapears onto the bathroom floor and can't be found (usualy turns up days later all crispy and dried out!)

Yup, couple of times. But then I wear daily disposables so not a huge problem.

Has always been moving fairly quickly when its cold causing the eye watering so I will generally wear clear safety type glasses in that type of condition. Even if it does defeat the point of wearing contacts a bit.

I wear contact lenses all the time n always wear cycling glasses to protect my eyes, only time i have an issue is wen the temp gets icy n i wear a neck buff n they tend to steam up a bit. Never lost 1 yet, but always have spares at work.

Often lost one - I just pop along to Specsavers and get a free replacement when it happens.
