Lost my Wedding ring :(

I am roughly 2 stone overweight for this very reason, my fingers need to be fat enough to stop the wedding ring slipping off as my little swamp duck (as I affectionately refer to the good lady) would never forgive me for losing it.

The OP's recent experience has made me nervous over whether I'm doing enough to take care of my ring so I'm off to the chippy for tea.

Might get a pickled egg for the walk home as well
I do hope your wife appreciates the lengths you are going to for her. I would suggest you tell her and put your feet up for a well deserved rest tonight (which, funnily enough, will also help).

Unfortunately I fear she has no idea just how lucky she is. Which makes me a little sad, so I've decided to have 2 pickled eggs!

Oh no, that's sad news.

Mrs Ian lost her wedding ring once, we were both very upset about it. Looked into buying a new one. A couple of weeks later she found it. At the bottom of the laundry basket in the cupboard.

So try not to despair. It may turn up when and where you least expect. Fingers crossed.
Bolting the stable door... Ian
If he'd had his fingers crossed, this fiasco would never have happened:whistle:

I've never really understood the concept of buying a new wedding ring. It's not the ring you got wed with. My BIL lost his, never replaced it as he said it wasn't the ring he got married with so didn't have the same symbolism.

Although I agree it isn't the ring that you marry, I would be mortified if I lost mine, it is a symbol of my commitment and it has memories attached to it.

Bit like Trigger's Broom.

Mine is my original wedding ting of 30 odd years ago , but widened twice

Bad times! It was our anniversary yesterday so I took a bit of a shorter route home to get back a little earlier . I'd been home for maybe an hour when I noticed I didn't have it on. We then spent our whole evening retracing my steps but we couldn't find it. I can only think now that it has somehow fallen off on the way home. I can imagine the probability of finding it even if I go back exactly the same way are incredibly thin. Gutted does not come close

well done, now just lose the wife as well and its win-win!

I've still got my wedding ring and I'm not even married anymore!

Hope you find it Micky.

Our rings were made by Night Train, from scrap stainless steel. They are both priceless and worth less at the same time, and if either gets damaged or lost, he'll make another. Just as we'll work out and fix any problems that arise in life. The concept of the ring is the symbol, for us, not the actual ring.

I couldn't cope with having a valuable ring, even if we could have afforded them.

Mine lives on the top of the cupboard in the bathroom as it's too big these days and comes off when I take off my cycling mitts which has meant a number of panics in the past. I do wear it occasionally but my wife doesn't seem to mind as long as I don't lose it.

I am paranoid about losing mine - not the value, but it's symbolism.

I got measured in winter and the ring felt perfect, but as summer passed and I typically lose a couple of kilos, it was loose. After a couple of near misses, my ring is currently having a couple of pips added inside to make it a little snugger.

Anyway - I have a friend who I was out on a ride with; we got back to his house and he noticed his ring was missing, much panic and a return to the point we had lunch etc. showed nothing. He was gutted and went through the insurance process. Many months later, he was having some work done and the plumber found it trapped inside some carpentry in his bathroom. So, he now has two rings!

I rode home slowly last night on the absolute off chance that it was lying in the road, missed by every vehicle, not picked up by someone walking.... It's not hard to guess the outcome
I did check CCTV yesterday and there I am, plain as day, but every image there is of me my left hand is covered! I tell you, if this was a planned operation and investigators were watching footage I can hear them now "he's a smart kid this one, he knows where every camera is, look how perfectly he's covered up".
Thanks for the good wishes, and its interesting to read other peoples stories.

Stupid thing, after washing my hands this morning I was drying them and said "sh!£, my rings gone" err derr.....
