On the trashy news and even on Jeremy Vine they are going on about her messing up the words to the national athem as if it is something more than a fluff up of words.

however she has been knocking out the anthem for about 30 years and this version is really great. The commentators almost talk over it all and she just comes out and nails it with no fuss. .....

Strange how in the US it is cool to be patriotic and leading popular performers sing their anthem but in UK we dont have that sort of thing at all. If Cheryl Cole sang our the natinal anthem it would not be seen as cool.

I'm not really one for anthems, but the Star-Spangled Banner is arguably a bit cooler than God Save The Queen, though, isn't it?

Who told CA she could sing . It was awful even without cocking up the words. There's singing and making a tuneless noise and CA's singing comes under latter heading.
Our national anthem was written back when we had an empire that covered a 1/4 of the globe so some of the words arn't that relavent these days but the tune is better than any other national anthem that I've heard. As I've stated before, to those of you that wish to remove the monarchy. How do you propose to replace the millions of dollars that the monarchy bring in from tourists that come to see them. Probably far outweighs what is paid from the civil list. A royalist and proud of it .

Must say I rather like our national anthem. Especially the bit about thrashing Edward's army and sending him home. On Bastille Day round here the locals play it just before the English one.

I think our anthem's tune is almost as bad as the words; it is plodding and uninspiring. Actually, rather like the Royal Family - perhaps that was the idea!
