Nay, it's because the ladies are reserved.
 
I'm sure there were many 1000s of love songs and poems started by women over the years, but never completed when they got distracted by something else which they never completed either; I think nowadays it's called "multi-tasking" and men can't do it, being as they are focussed on completing tasks.

Where do you draw the line?

Patti Smith is a poet and a lyricist.

On several occasions she has performed a work in both spoken word and as a lyric to a song.

In some cases the songs are both poetry and song.
