It seems that the monkeys at Lovefilm struggle to read a calendar.

We used signed up for the 30 day free trial, which runs from 21st January to 20th February.

It is only when you cancel that the Lovefilm sharks admit their billing process runs 24 hours before the money is deducted, so they need to have any outstanding films back on the 19th February. Which is a Sunday, so they need to have the anything outstanding processed by the Friday. Because the films which we sent back last Wednesday are still showing as being outstanding, they are going to charge an extra month.

The "30 day" trial actually gives you less than 24 days.

I wonder if it is a coincidence that they take so long to process films sent back in the last week of a subscription period. No, they wouldn't do that, would they? That would be a very indecent thing to do.

Still, looking on the bright side, at least it has helped us to decide between Lovefilm and Netflix.

Terrible norm, I have a Lovefilm account which is just the 3 films per month one, no problems with 'em, but I suppose you only find these things out once you try to cancel.

... and dont expect to ever receive anything remotely near the top of your rental list.

Pants they are.
Oh, yeah, the last film was delivered on Wednesday even though it was showing as being in stock the whole way through. We sent it back the same day.

I was hoping that there would be a half-decent choice for OD viewing but they had a very poor selection, IMO.

We don't watch many films and don't want to organise ourselves around their supply / demand schedules, so we thought the on demand bit might be useful.

It isn't.

We use lovefilm, they seem OK to me but then I'm not desperate to see the latest blockbuster as soon as it's on DVD. We put a list together of stuff we wanted to catch up on and it's worked pretty well I rec.

^ that works for us too. Finally watched The Straight Story and enjoyed it, ta!

There's been a few dodgy discs but they've been very prompt at sending replacements. It took four goes to watch Breakfast on Pluto, we ended up buying it in the end.

Plenty of films on the tv for me - and when there aren't, we tend to have a look in the local CeX. The other week we came away with 6 films - 2 we'd seen before, knew we liked and fancied having a copy of and 4 we thought sounded worth a punt - for £9. When we're too busy to watch films, there's no pressure of a contract (one of the reasons we got rid of Sky Movies; we just weren't watching enough to justify the expense).

Possibly, which will mean we end up with neither. Life will continue, the sun will still rise in the east and we'll spend our box-watching lives trying to keep up with Tivo's Suggestions rather than wondering when LoveSharks will send through the next disc.

7 of 9 **sigh**

Mrs Norm is addicted to David Duchovny... sorry, Bones, so we've been watching that from the pilot. In fact, she's addicted to US cop shows (CSI, NCIS etc) and David Duchovny, so Bones is just perfect for her.

In the meantime, I'll be playing Warcraft, Battlefield 3 and Driver, although probably not consecutively. :addict:

Don't ever watch films anymore as the pinochle of film making has now passed on the making of "Weird Science" and "No Limits"
Weird Science about the two lads who make there perfect woman - The wonderful "Kelly LeBrock"
No Limits about George Shuttleworth (George Formby) doing the Isle of Man TT on his home made Shuttleworth Snap

After these to epics of film nothing else is worth watching

On the subject of No Limts, I quite liked World's Fastest Indian - which was one of the few films which caught my eye from the list of those available On Demand on LoveFilm.

I had to go out an buy TT Closer To The Edge, though.

I don't love film enough to use an online service or any other service come to that.

Easycinema DVD rental is what I use, although it has ran by Lovefilm. It is much better as you can just buy 4 credits for £1.99 each (£7.96) each credit is a dvd or blu ray rental. You have to use the 4 credits within 3 months and you can only have one disc at home at once. It is ideal for me as I could never watch 3 recent films a month as the majority of them are pants. I have always found the service really good as long as you reserve new releases quite a long time before they are due to be released. It is much cheaper than hiring films from Blockbuster and I only have to remember to post the DVD's back once I have watched them.
