I then comprehensively spoiled my good mood by calling in at Waitrose in search of an illusive ingredient. Talk about home counties pretentiousness - the immaculately dressed and indecently thin woman in front of me was complaining they didn't have any organic cider vinegar.

You should have said "Oh my god, you're not still using cider vinegar are you? That's so last year! I won't use anything but chive-flower infused sake vinegar myself..."

I live in a small-ish town, a place where if you don't know someone, you know someone who does, whether you know it or not. And that's as much separation as there is.
You could never have an affair and keep it secret for very long in my town.

I think I just had a second lot of good service from a garden centre (one I used to live near). They often do an offer on pots - you know buy 10 plants and get a reduced price but he saw I was on a bike so gave me a multibuy reduction anyway:thumbsup: on my 6 pots (couldn't have fitted anymore into my pannier).
