Which means absolutely jack in terms of close clearance frames! It has far more to do with the exact design philosophy the designers had when they penned the frame design. Aerodynamically there's actually a good argument for having larger frame to tyre clearances.

Clearly you don't!

Let's see from the PDW site
The Full Metal Fenders are designed to fit road bikes that are difficult to install full coverage fenders on. They have special hardware to get around caliper brakes and under forks, even add-on mounts for bikes that lack eyelets to mount fender stays to.
Any advances on that?

Wow, some strong words over some mudguards to keep my backside dry :stop:

I've ordered the Cruds, they should be arriving tomorrow, so I will be fitting them after work. Thanks for the heads up on the youtube clip, was it the one where the guy gashes his finger with a panel saw?

They look easy enough to install, and if they work and fit then I'll be a happy bunny.

I Bought the cruds last winter for my cube peloton. Very fiddly to fit and never got them to sit quite right all winter, always rubbed ant some point or other to the point were the friction opened up a nice hole in the rear. They give great coverage but I found them a pain in the ass as you could always hear a rubbing noise somewhere. Took them off during the summer and put them back on last month, back one fecked up first, soon followed by the front but I put this down to being a year old, being in the shed for the summer, getting twisted etc.... so now I am back to getting sprayed big time when it's wet. (
Now I am looking at the SKS raceblades long but can't find them in stock anywhere. Has the long version been discontinued ??
What are the std raceblades like or the XL version like compared to the longs ?

I've done a week with them on now, and I have noticed the occasional rubbing from them when out riding, chiefly when a bit of road debris is picked up, but they seem to clear fairly quickly. I've got into the habit of giving them a little tug before setting out and this seems to make a massive difference. They have kept both me and the bike pretty dry so far, and they've had a few stern tests these last few days that's for sure lol how they hold up remains to be seen, but for the money I can't really complain.

My only gripe if I had one so far is that the front lower section could do with being a little wider if anything, as sometimes when turning my opposite foot does get sprayed a little more than I'd expect. I've got in to the habit of trying to move the foot in question out of the way.
