Hello. I'm blown away a bit by all the choice and I know very little about this, so please could somebody point me to a good choice for a low cost holiday destination for a couple in early middle-age? Required: warm dry weather (in the 20s is fine) nearly guaranteed in late September-early October, and no serious fears re terrorism etc. Just a clean and decent place and under £400/person.
Thanks in advance.

I was going to say home in front of the fire, but it falls over at the clean and decent bit in my case.

I was going to suggest Silloth,as visited (at high speed) by the Tour Of Britain, however I think the temperature could be a problem!

Realistically, if you want cheap you want Spain, somewhere not too far away. Some of the major costs are in air fuel so the further you go.....
I never found the so called 'cheap' destinations cheap, not that cheap anyway...like Turkey, even Egypt or Tunisia, mind I'm not sure I want any of those places now.
What sort of holiday...self catering, all inclusive etc ?..sometimes the cheap option works out expensive if you eat out every night.

Menorca

Had a week here in June, chilled place, nice beach, options to get to Mahon etc. cost us under £400 sc, 3 people in a 2 bed place, with private taxi transfer from airport

Not sure on how warm end October, but will be similar to Majorca. Coming in at under £400 pp for late September out of gatwick. About £50 more out of manchester if that's better
