I've always use wet, apart from a few months earlier this year when I gave dry lube a shot. I was really unimpressed and reverted back to wet.

Dry ceramic Finish Line. Off road round here you're riding on millstone grit. Wet lube attracts it and creates a grinding paste. Dry wax sheds mud and makes the chain easier to clean and maintain. If you do a lot of wet road miles you may want to use a wet lube.

  1. Engine oil - because that's what I have in my garage! (5-30 Ford Diesel) Great for cold starts!
  2. Drip it onto the rollers regularly and wipe off excess and dirt after each ride - works for me.
  3. In summer on my mountain bike (when I was still able to ride it) dry lube when riding on sand and dusty paths.
