Off to Lucerne in Switzerland in January to celebrate my 60th with family, anyone been and is it as good as the brochure says?

Went a few weeks ago. Expensive for accommodation and food, but once you get over that shock it's a great place. Various lake trips, cog railways, cable cars, but not sure which would be open in January. Central town is pretty with the covered bridge, and there's a nice walk round the old city wall. Plenty to do for 2 or 3 days so long as it's not all closed down for the winter.
