Two panniers. One left permanently made up with a padded laptop bag held in the middle of the pannier with copious quantities of bubble wrap; the other for tools, lunch, waterproof, lock etc.

Rucksack for commutin, external frame so good ventilation, waterproof, Ortlieb 5 year guarantee.

Do use Panniers for shopping light loads, and have a trailer that I use for the weekly family food shop.

Mostly panniers, sometimes rucksack, sometimes basket, sometimes trailer :girl:

Rackbag with fold out panniers, tried the rucksack a couple of times but even with an 'airflow system' my back was covered in sweat.

I started with a pannier but found that I really didn't need the volume because I don't have to lug much stuff to work. I have been using a £9.99 Lidl rucksac for the last couple of years and I really don't notice it any more. I cut off the padded waist strap because it was far too high up to be doing any good.

Super tourist rack, topeak super bag with fold out panniers...awesome kit and is rather smaller thank a rucksack once the sides are folded in
