Get ready for the 'blood moons':
Partial eclipse begins:1:58am
Total Eclipse begins: 03:06am
Grand Total Eclipse: 03:45am
Total Eclipse ends: 04:24am
Partial Eclipse ends:5:33am

  • America will have prime viewing position
  • Will be first of four blood red moon, followed by six full moons
  • The cycle finishes at the end of September 2015
  • It coincides with an alignment of Earth, Mars and the sun
  • The chance alignment has only happened three times in the last 500 years
    • Some Christians believe the Tetrad is a signal the end of the world is near

Er, it's not a chance alignment. It is 100% calculable, both forwards and backwards. And you can always find some sect that believes the world is about to end, because that is what Godbotherers do.

On a more serious note, I was up at 5.30 this morning for no particular reason and the moon was full and glowing but not anything unusual.
Which moon were you looking at?
