It may not be that they (the other party) is lying, rather that the insurance company is trying to wriggle out of paying. I would leave it in the hands of your solicitor, and try not to get too worked up about it.

Totally. I had a truck push my car off the road, then deny all blame. I had no witnesses or anything but I wrote letters explaining how illogical his version of events was and eventually I won. He caved in 100%. So don't give up.
