I thought the Dartford crossing was longer than this, its busy though. Is there a separate cycle lane or do you have to share it with traffic?

Cycling is not allowed on the bridge (or through the tunnel for that matter!). Cyclists report to the control point at either side and get given a free lift across.

If there's no separate cycle path that must be frustrating. If I'm ever down that way I'll have to remember that.

I believe there's some similar arrangement for cyclists getting across the Øresund Bridge between Denmark and Sweden, another bridge which cyclists are not permitted to ride across. Anyone had any experience (my son might be interested)?

Not an April Fool on my part, if that's what you mean. This person really was cycling along the M25!
