Now listen up - it's MacRide time again!

On Sunday 9 September 2007 at Stratford-upon-Avon

25, 50 or 63 miles (100k) miles in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

Pleasant on-road route (quiet lanes) with refreshment stops

Suitable for any ability of rider or type of bicycle.

Signed route and detailed route sheet (The 100k is an Audax-style ride)

We had a great turn-out in 2006, but want to do even better this year

All the details are at www.macride.org.uk including posters to put up at your place of work, entry forms etc - why not get friends, family or work-colleagues to get a team together. AND for 2007 we have a fantastic cycling jersey - the proceeds of which ALL go to the cause

It's all on the website.

Thanks !

Have you got a route map for the 100k in gpx at all?

Officially we do not publish the rooutes in advance because mean people then ghost the ride and don't pay - which isn't fair on the other riders or the charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.

BUT as we have introduced the 100 new this year and because we will probably try and get it into the Audax calendar for next year we will be sending the route sheet to 100k entrants (by e-mail only) about a week before the event. If you send me an e-mail or PM I can send you a file ... the route is plotted on Memory Map so it would be a conversion of the .mmo file

Hope that helps!

Please don't forget the MacRide - entries are coming in thick and fast ... and if you fancy a super new jersey at a bargain price (all the monay going to Macmillan Cancer Support) see the website

All the details are at www.macride.org.uk or www.macride100.co.uk

Thanks!

Mac Ride?

Saw the title and thought perhaps the evil burger chain was trying to regain favour with cyclists after banning them from drive throughs

As you may imagine the name of the ride was decided on slightly tongue-in-cheek ..... but if it was related to the dreaded Ronald it would have been McRide ! (and we would probably have heard from their lawyers by now, this year being the 3rd running of the event)

Sending off entries for 15 today with hopefully another couple on the day.

A rough plan of the route would be good to use to persuade others

Fantastic! - if you would like to e-mail info@macride.org.uk I'll see what I can do about a peek at the route

.... and don't forget that we have a fantastic MacRide jersey this year, all proceeds go to the cause.

Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou

rob

to you and all the others, particularly the green sticker people i'd just like to say a huge thankyou from our group.

it certainly ticked all the audax points and should you choose to go for it we wish you every success.

as we plough the streets in our Macride shirts we shall look forward to next year and unless you do a football trick and change the design we shall wear them again with pride on Macride 2008

Chapeau

Great to meet you - and thanks for the kind words:biggrin:

... and the mention of the stickers - that's just a 70 odd mile ride on Saturday afternoon to put them up (with 2 of us in the car :biggrin:) .... they work well as a supplement to the route sheet but we did have a problem with a few being removed at key points by, presumably, ASBO candidates thinking it would be amusing:angry:

Audax is something we are thinking about but lots of issues (and a clash with an established event that's held not that far away that weekend) - watch this space

Jerseys were great and contributed handsomely to the cause - we do have some left (see www.macride.org.uk for details and an order form - all the money goes to Macmillan)

We will NOT change the style of the jerseys - it just depends on how many we have left (it was intended as a 2-year product) and the depth of sponsors' pockets. If we do order more jerseys then the style will be the same, possibly with some more/different sponsors.

Get that date in the diary : MacRide Sunday 7 September 2008
