ok were you a blue peter or a magpie?
BP. Found my much faded competition runners up badge the other day. And my blue and silver badges must be at Mum's home somewhere.
We never watched ITV until we moved to England. I think our elderly telly in Belfast couldn't get it or something.
I'll see your Jenny Hanley, and I'll raise you a Susan Stranks: http://www.nostalgiacentral.com/images_tv/magpie7.jpg
I'll see your stranks and rais you sally james, (i know off topic but....)
I don't quite go back as far as the Leila Williams era, but remember Christopher Trace and Val Singleton
John Noaks on BP was a superstar!
One of the original TV buffoons - but good...
...remember the zookeeper being dragged through the elephant er waste product...
Susan Stranks 10/10 - and the intro song was a good one, along with trendy graphics.
I liked Tom Tom, and I still have my prize badge at home
Ah, but I remember a TV show where someone (Danny Baker I think) pointed out the quiet star genius of Peter Purves. Always just a little in the shadow of Noakes, but they made a great double act...
Blue Peter, the baby elephant scene is still a classic.
Valerie Singleton pulled up next to me at a petrol station in London, back in the 70's, but I was to shy to say anything. She looked lovely though.
Val Singleton not a singleton, in fact a drinker from the furry cup... lesbian relationship with Joan Armatrading... urban myth, male fantasy, someone's nightmare, or true?
You could always find out from one she made earlier I suppose...
OK -couldn't resist it.
Our TV couldn't receive ITV according to my mother.
BP was good and wholesome but Magpie was where it was at, man!
The difference is like that between http://www.eurocosm.com/Application/images/Pashley/pashley-princess-classic-md.jpg and http://www.momist.com/blog/uploaded_images/Colnago-CF4-749429.jpg
