Maillard 600 hub maintenance

I have these hubs on my Raleigh Randonneur. Its 1987 and hasn't had a great deal of use so maybe now full of dried up grease. Now and again the front is making that little clicky clanky sound. When I spin them by holding them they feel dead smooth however. I've not had any working experience of sealed bearings.... can they be maintained?
I don't think its the wheel/spokes although it does sound a bit like the sound that a newly built wheel makes. Sorry this is another one of those where's this sound coming from!
What do you guys think?

doesn't help the OP, but velobase is a really good database for "old stuff"

Must be then , I just don't remember maillard 600 being sealed
