I was wondering if you peeps in Englandshire get offers for the English stores in a similar vein to the ones we get in Scotland e.g."Majestic England price £10, Majestic Scotland price £7"

Not sure - I only went once, to the one in Newmarket. I picked up a nice bottle of plonk, sauntered to the till, and they told me I would have to by another 5 as 6 bottles is the minimum purchase - the miserable sods - what am I supposed to do, balance them on my handlebars?!
Should have known better before going in, as the car park was full of bloody Volvos and the like.

You should have drank five and wobbled home with one.

Simples:thumbsup:

Don't think so. It took a short while to get my head around the blurb but it appears that there's no material advantage other than a few pence if you purchase the plonk in Scotland. Single bottle prices only drop if you buy a 'bottle and another bottle' of the same variety and vintage to get round the multiple purchase discounting regulations. The savings are insufficient form to consider moving north of the border. :hello:

One example taken at random from their latest brochure:
Rioja Reserva, 2006, Vina Eguia
Majestic England £9.99
Majestic Scotland £5.99

the penny has finally dropped. I was of the opinion that single bottles could not be bought but it looks like I am wrong. However the minimum order is six bottles online so it's more than likely that pairs of the bargain prices will be bought offering no material advantage over English customers.

A smoke and mirrors trick I think.....

It's not a "buy 2 offer" tho. This is the price of single bottles (as usual the min. purchase is 6).
I would have thought there was an equivalent English offer, or do Majestic not think English people want to get one over the Scots as much as they think we want to get one over on the English...good marketing strategy I suppose: Not only are we selling this to you at a good price, but those bastard neighbours of yours are getting screwed over

Just bought a few bottles back from France. I reckon a decent 3 euro Bordeaux is the equivalent of a decent 7 to 10gbp Bordeaux in a UK supermarket and the minimum purchase is 1. It's my tax avoidance scheme.

It's because booze offers are illegal in Scoland, which includes Majestic's bewildering policy of giving you a lower price if you buy two bottles the same.

If you shop in Majestic with a specific budget make sure you take a calculator, and a friend with a PHD in string theory.

The wine is bloody great though!
