Making a colour tint

One for any graphic artists out there.
I need to get a colour right for a corporate document and the only info I have is

Mid Blue is RGB 168,206,226
Light Blue is 60% tint of mid blue

How do I work out the RGB for the light blue?

No idea. Use the mid-blue at 60% opacity?

FWIW I agree (almost with Aperitif: I'd go for 203, 226, 238 - but what's a point or two in 255? - next to nothing.

The more important issue is what colour space the RGB was defined in... sRGB?, Adobe RGB? They never tell you that - and the same numbers in a different colour space will give you a (slightly) different colour...

Ah... now, that would be telling... ; : )

OK, I'm feeling generous : )

V = current colour value = 168
T = % tint required = 60
X = new colour value

X = V+(255-V)*(1-(T/100))

How did I find that formula? Through lots of head scratching - followed by brief a A-ha! moment
