I have a cunning plan to make a trailer from an old hard shell suitcase, which will transport the Brompton on planes etc.

I have an old toddler trailer that I think I can use for parts.
However, I wagged CDT and have no idea how to make this happen - can anyone tell me where to start?

Can you remove the wheel mounts on the trailer, or are the wheels attached onto a fixed axle?

Can you use a single axle all the way through. Aligning 2 axles is harder.
You are going to have to hack this one using blocks of hardwood, sugru, araldyte.
For the mount you should consider a carry-freedom lollipop style on 19mm square-section aluminium. You don't have to mount at the axle, the Leaf trailer uses the same system on a seatpost mount.

Ha ha! We gave a friend a lift in OH's car last week. She pointed to a roll of duct tape kept inside the car and said that her mother had warned her to never to trust a man who keeps duct tape in the car. She wasn't reassured when OH produced a can of WD40 from under the passenger seat and asked what her mother would say about that!

Errrr........ dunno?

My trailer used wheelchair style removable stub axles which fit inside an aluminium block. As long as you can mount the block, the wheels will be OK. The removal is tool-free and leaves no bits of axle sticking out.

Several trailers Radiacl design have a simple 'Socket" on the frame and the wheel then fits in and out of this. It is also common in wheelchair wheels
