Making promises to your children (and keeping them)

Dont do it,unless you can be sure you can keep your promise!!! i bought my Son(13) a frame to build him a road bike
"will you have the bike built so i can ride it at the cycling club on Saturday morning Dad"
"of course i will Son, i promise"

all new parts required arrived mid week and were bolted to the frame, i left Friday evening free to finish.unexpected visitors arrived and stayed until 1130 Friday night !!! had to set the alarm for 0530 on saturday morning to get the bike completed before 0830 Saturday club ride !!!!caused myself a load of stress .I felt great when he woke up to see his nice shiney new bike,and not a box of parts!!!!
