Some of the posters have done themselves no favours. The IAAF admits to have acted on rumours and cite an 8 second improvement in her performance this year. Now, that presumably means they suspect she was a woman in 2008 and a man in 2009. Not content with making a complete arse of himself in this context the pusillanimous pustule gobshite that is Nick Davies went on to say that this was being handled 'quietly' as in making sure that the global television audience was well aware of it. And then there's the question of the IAAF's procedures that stipulate that if an athlete tests positive on the A sample his or her name is withheld until the B sample is tested - in this case the athlete has been named without any test having shown any result at all.
While I accept that the cyclechatters who have said they wouldn't under any circumstances are, without doubt, each more handsome than the other, and, in any case, substantially better looking than George Clooney and Rupert Everett rolled in to one (that's in there for Rupert's benefit, by the way) I think that before they spurn any advances this young woman might make via this esteemed forum they might want to consider the obvious. To quote Stendhal quoting Chateaubriand (collector's item, that) 'she is not pretty, she wears no rouge'. This young woman does not pluck her eyebrows, does not wear eyeshadow, and does not wear the revealing clothing favoured by most sprinters. Maybe she simply doesn't understand that cyclechatters have certain expectations that deserve to be fulfilled, but, take away the superficial and she looks not very dissimilar to the woman who won the high hurdles.
Oh, and the 8 second improvement? She's the same age as ilovebikes and radius, who have improved out of sight this year. And, let me assure you, both of those young gentlemen are gentlemen.
