Managed to get a Raleigh Superbe for free!

Went down to Sheffield last week and managed to pick up this Raleigh Superbe in very good condition. Hub stamped as a 53 which I believe is the original. Front dynamo light is working but rear isn’t….. I’ll apart with bulb. Unsure about the cream tyres so they may go.

Wowsers! What a find ! Is it a 3 SPD or 4 SPD, Sturmey hub, seems to me in pretty good nick and original condition, some use to have a cannister with batteries to supplement the lighting when at standstill ,it's very likely the rear bulb has failed, the Dyno was never it's strong point,I believe it was a 6volt rather than 12.
Tyres are modern , originals would either be White walls with black treads, or just black,so I would change for black,very unlikely to find new old stock now,or even appropriate ones.
But never the less a top of the range bike for the time I am jealous, ..,and you got it free!

Pedals aren't period correct either, original would be a rubber block affair bolted through the rubber blocks.
Very likely a duff bulb, could be a bad earth, but other than the beat up rear guard and missing reflector looks original.

Yeah I noticed the pedals arnt the right ones, I’ve already sourced some on eBay! Going to have a play around with the rear light this weekend and see if I can get hold of the rear reflector for the back. ☺️
