As detailed on the Cycle GM website.........http://www.cyclegm.org/news/news_item.aspx?itemID=148

Saturday 10th September 2011, 11pm

This event is a fantastic opportunity to experience Manchester as you’ve probably never seen it before!

Moon Ride is a 100km cycle around Manchester at night, all in aid of Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity and St Ann’s Hospice.

Whilst the rest of the city sleeps, you will pass some of the best sites Manchester has to offer, including Old Trafford, The Imperial War Museum, The Museum of Science and Industry, The Lowry, Granada Studios and Manchester Ship Canal.

Thanks for pointing out I'd missed out the details ColinJ. I hope this additional info helps.

& Further to my previous post.......

MORE DETAILS as per Cycle GM site

The event kicks off at 11pm from Manchester City Football Club Stadium, and depending on riders level of fitness and experience, should take between 4 and 8 hours to complete.

This will be a spectacular challenge for all involved! With your help we can continue the fantastic work carried out by Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity and St Ann’s Hospice for people across Greater Manchester and beyond.

Might not get many interested in this ride due to £25 registration fee and £150 minimum sponsership limit.

Which has to be paid by Friday 12th August and to quote from the T's&C's "Of the monies raised a proportion will be used to cover the costs of your Manchester Moon Ride and the rest will be split equally between Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Charity and St Ann's Hospice"

So as well as paying £25 to the organisers they also take a cut off the sponsership money.

Riding round city centre at pub/club times is not my idea of fun.
Not mine either ...

In my early days of cycling in this area, I thought I'd go and check out Saddleworth Moor one fine summer evening. Foolishly, I thought that I'd memorised the route so I didn't bother carrying a map ...

I must have been tired. Somehow, after a lightning fast descent off the Moor, I managed to take a left turn at Greenfield, instead of the right which would have taken me home via Uppermill!

I ended up in the dark in some rough part of Oldham where drunks were spilling out of the pubs onto the roads, broken glass was everywhere and fights were breaking out - not a good time and place to find yourself, clad in Lycra, on a bicycle!

Ok Ok .......I have seen the light! Shame tho' it was for a good cause. You guys are right you've def made me rethink this one. I guess I'll hover til the October Cycletta but there's still a fee to pay. Just get some pootling done and watch out for any local rides.

If you give ColinJ £25, I sure you can go on one of his rides instead !
