I like to take my dog with me when I go for day rides so the canals are perfect, she can run along and I don't have to worry about traffic. Most of my longer rides are planned around where the dog can run. So whenever I start planning a ride I always look for canals and rivers. There's also the advantage of them being flat which is always good in my book ^_^

Cheers fellas and glad you enjoyed the ride to standedge , rode down the Rochdale the other day and carried on to the Bridgewater , but I was halted at old Trafford paths not wide at all and didn't fancy falling in . With regards huds I've just got to see that tunnel and I've now mapped a way over the moors to the visitors centre via the tunnel end pub .
Colin B, I'm an ancient Oxfordshire cyclist long interested in that ride. Wondering if you made that moors trip and how it went. I'd be interested in seeing your map.
