Manchester to Warrington

Hello Everybody

You guys have a great forum here, I have been following it for years. I have a question for this forum. I recentlley changed my comute from Stockport to Handforth to Stockport to Warrington. This leads me away from the peaceful greens of Woodford and into Manchester. I have been doing this journey now for two weeks and I find that Manchester drivers are true angels compared to the crazy people in Stockport. I think urban drivers a more aware of non car related traffic than suburban ones.
I know people always complain about bad driving but being a driver myself I think it doesn’t matter whether you are on a bike or in a car you will always come across others peoples actions that you object. It's just a rawer feeling on a bike as you have not got your safety cocoon around you. I could elaborate about the situation in 'bicycle friendlily Germany' if anybody is interested, but you might not like what you you hear. Take care

I'm in warrington, what routes are you taking?
are you coming in from the south of warrington or are you heading in from the north along the a57?

My one trip from Stockport to Warrington was a crippling 30 miles at the end of Off For A Jodd. I took the A560 as far as Altrincham, then went through Dunham Massey, then I took a detour to Partington coz it's a nice road, then Lymm to Warrington.

So what is this mysterious German situation then??

partington is ok, too many flippin traffic lights for me heh i take this route some fridays when i'm trying to get mileage in.

I commuted to Warrington from Hale last summer and it was a joy. Back roads to the Axe and Cleaver in Dunham then hit the Trans Pennine trail to Warrington. The trail was always quiet at that time and the only challenge was the shed loads of flies in the heavily bush/ tree lined stretches. Not a problem at this time of the year. Took about 35 mins.
