Hi everyone I'm thinking of commuting to work. I need to start work at 6am work 10hrs finish work 4.30pm. The thing thats worrying me at the moment is I'm on feet doing manual work for the ten hours. Oh I forgot the commute will be 11.5m am along a fast main road as it will be quiet. 16m home not so busy route. Does anybody else do this kind of thing.

I would recommend you get something comfortable with a decent range of gears then. If you are carrying tools, then buy a basket or a work bike, save your shoulders the unnecessary weight.

MTFU or HTFU are not options, thanks.

STFU will be considered.
Sounds to me like you need a bit of 'pedal assist' there longers;)

No offence but no ta. A scooter might be worth looking into even if not suitable all year round. In the meantime I'll just HTFU a bit

Longers..... I know some of your 'target rides' are way above what I'd even consider  - I plan maybe 3 or 4 100 mile sportives this year..... I'm not a mile muncher, so see how the body is going.....TBH the day by day is the most important.

I know you've done some serious Audax rides, but they take far more mental preparation than I can manage.

In my old Cycling Club I had a mate that would do 100 mile and 12 hour TT's...scarey stuff.....I only ever did a handful of 50 mile TT's ......in over 10 years of TT'ing.... OK pretty damn quick, but nearly finished me off.

Also dabbled in Hill climbs at the end of the season...god that hit my moral big time, despite good results... all out for 3-5 minutes....argh....

Mix it..get some short quick rides in too......... hard/hilly or flat and fast....
