Good summary. I'll add 'Salford's answer to Captain Beefheart'Oh my I have some stories about him. I worked with him & Brix on their Light User Syndrome album back in '95.
On one side of the coin he was a decent chap, on the other, not so.
But what ever anyone thinks of him and his music, he did what he wanted to do without compromise and without being dictated to by record companies. That is to be applauded.
