Just now, after a player went off with hamstring trouble...

Guy Mowbray: So, what did you pull most when you were playing?
Mark Lawrenson: I couldn't possibly tell you that on live television.

Probably Alan Hansen.

Benefit of the doubt.... but it does sound like common-or-garden lad's pub humour to me.

I remember a footballer (Lineker?) making 'bite the pillow' remarks on Question Of Sport. In a context, I'm sure it's the kind of remark that'd get a laugh. Didn't work there. He was too used to the team coach/changing rooms. Once you get used to the way things work in any context, the accepted 'funny' remarks come (fnaar fnaar) naturally. I've been there.

What is this? Secret societies, nods and winks and secret handshakes? ;) Anyone care to explain?

I sincerely hope you're not suggesting I'm a w****** for sharing my thoughts. Because that would be uncalled for.

Not sinister Yello! I presume Noods was making a smutty euphemism out of the phrase "I've been there"

That's certainly one interpretation Rich. I hope you're right. I must admit that I missed that one in my search for possibles.

I only pitched the worst possible scenario in the hope that it'd bring forth the real reason. In truth, I have no idea what was meant!

Edit: yes, on reflection, and after reading back the post, I see that as an entirely possible interpretation. I missed the appropriate contextual (some would say obvious) 'lads' meaning of "I've been there"! I didn't intend it when I wrote it so I didn't see it afterwards!

Nah, that's not my sense of humour at all. I have a sense of the ridiculous and I enjoy bad puns. I can do smut/lad's humour but I have to admit that I do find it a bit obvious - not really my thing.
