No but I might be planning a ride up to there in the coming weeks if I shake off this bug I've got.

Yep, lots, what do you want to know? There are so many of them, short and steep, long and steady etc.

I've just got back from a week there but the hills where unreal!
just wondering if they where possible because they killed me off

stayed at the darley forest holiday lodge so the roll down into Matlock was great but going back.....
tryed the one from the chemist at the bottom and had to walk it! dangerous as well (no foot path)
saw cyclists coming down but none going up.

That sounds like Rowsley Bar, you should have tried Riber Road, that's tough! There's some steep stuff around Matlock Bath as well, we avoid the daft ones, but Riber is good fun! Via Gellia is a good long ( 7 miles) steady climb, some nasty alternatives to get to same place. When you ride this terrain all the time it certainly gets you ready for hills. Darley Forest place has some flats around it on the tops, it's where I head for interval work cos there is really nothing else flat unless you ride the A6 to Bakewell. Great riding terrain, we did Winnats on club ride today.

Via Gellia from Crmford is good steady ride. Not to steep.Even better coming down. Big ring small sprocket give it some hammer.

We rode down Via Gellia after riding out to Tour of Britain at alstonefield, was into a massive headwind, took a lot of work to keep up 30 mph. Nice when it's quiet and a cracking little cafe, tor cafe at the lights in Cromford.

"Anyone ever ridden the hills around Matlock?" - I live here!
Compact and triple chainsets on road bikes are popular round here. Of course the real challange is the off road routes..........
