There's a definite scuttling, surrying kinda sound come from under my floorboards/behind the wall somewhere. It's most disconcerting. I suspect meeces. I might have to go to war.

OK, now read post #13, my take on the matter.

Poison, poison , poison....now......unless you really want to look forward to mouse shoot in your toaster at breakfast, that is. I really thought they were cute, to begin with.......................

poison is an evil way to go - at least trap the little buggers so they die quickly!

They don't die quickly in traps, Becs. They ponce about and laugh at you while they avoid the snap , drag out the chocs and peanuts and go home to their doubly incontinent brethren and venture forth to use your bread bin and toaster as some kind of latrine.

If it has never become a personal jihad against rodents, invading your "family compound", you will never understand.

Terrier then? Terriers will get the job done. Failing that a decent cat. I'm not talking about the crappy "humane" traps btw! I just remember when we used to put poison down for the rats in the stables and it was pretty grim (and I'm not a bunny hugging kind of person!)

Not quite....

We have a Lucas Terrier. A cranky little anarchist who obeys no man but has a seething hatred for squirrels. He has never caught one. His chances of offing a mouse are pretty much zero. No, he is not at all fond of cats, so that's another option closed off.

Sack terrier 1 for being pants and get super duper terrier 2 and/or a mouse munching moggie?

P.s. Have had lots of lovely wine tonight :-)

Sacking Bertie is not an option.

A smelly small dog with dubious, noisy personal habits, unloved by visitors,

Family, none the less.
