There was recently a 9.2 magnitude earthquake in Luton. Insurers reckon it did a tenners worth of improvements.
I've never been to Luton, but I'd say the pier in Redcar has more cultural and architectural merit than the residual pier of the Pont d'Avignon.
And Redcar pier was demolished in 1980 after ship collisions, fires, storms and mines repeatdly damaged it over the course of a century.
There's a recently rebuilt cinema on the site now. Would be a good use for the Pont d'Avignon IMO.
