I recently acquired two Metropolitan bikes, one from 1989, the other 1990. They are identical apart from different colours and one has ROADSTER on the top frame. They are from the cheap end of the market but are attractive machines and both have functioning Miller dynamo systems and Sturmey Archer 3 speed hubs. Does anyone have any information, please, regarding the source / manufacturer of these bikes. I have searched online to no avail.

I suspect 'metropolitan' might be the model rather than the manufacturer. It's used on this Halfords bike.

It helps enormously with identification of mystery stuff if you post up some good photos. Often bikes get sold under various brand names for marketing reasons, but sometimes the frames have distinctive build features which enables the true origin to be identified.
