As someone who drives a black i10 I feel sullied by association. It was very unnecessary. Did you filter past him after?

I had exactly the same happen to me the other day. However, I chose to filter past him and then he tried to ram me off the road.

MGIF and unnecessary, but can't say I would have been too upset by that. Driver was indicating, didn't look too close and it would just have given me a wry smile to think of the mentality of the driver to actually think the manoeuvre was going to get them anywhere.
I'm not crying into my cornflakes about it. It was annoying at the time, but as you say not worth getting very peed off about.

Don't put yourself back in front of someone that has already shown that they are incapable of driving safely.

Better off letting them go. They're in a ton of car, if they hit you (deliberately or not) then you won't win. Better to be wrong than dead.

It is annoying indeed but happens often unfortunately 
Ironically I find it happens less often when I'm on the fix (perhaps because I'm still pedaling to the line) than on the geared bike, even though on the former I'm slower away from the line

Might be normal driving, we might be de-sensitised but doesn't make it any less problematic, aggressive & dangerous.

I am reminded of the first words spoken in my first driving lesson in 1980.
"What is this we're sitting in?"
"A Volkswagen Passat..."
"This... is three-quarters of a ton of death. Never forget it."
My father (for it was he) had a way with language and I have never forgotten it. I think it was over a ton, but it didn't seem a good time to quibble over details.
God, I was a truly dreadful driver for the first decade or so.... I wonder if initial driving lessons still start that way...
