Which campsite did you go to ... and I know that wasn't his first 10 miles ... as he did the 18+ mile loop on the Biggest Bike Ride - managing to finish at exactly the same time as Mr Summerdays and get in 2 of our photos quite by chance!
I'm trying do decide whether to do something similar next week when I only have my youngest at home ... but it might have to be B+B ... I haven't got a tent suitable for camping (Yet!).
Yes, I think it worked out at just over 24 during the Bristol's Biggest, when you include to and from the car. Yes, he's very proud of that...
We stayed
here, and I can highly recommend it. Because we were on the bike, we were able to pitch our tent in what was, effectively, a private garden (didn't need parking for a car). There was also a very nice (wooden build) playground which the boy loved. Facilities were very clean and tidy, and the people who ran the campsite were very friendly.
The only slight down side was that it's quite near the A38, so we had a fair amount of traffic noise though the night, but it wasn't really a problem (certainly the rain we had over night was much, much noisier!). There is access from one of the quiet lanes BTW, so you don't have to get to it from the A38 - Although I didn't know that until Sunday morning. Still, it was only about 50 meters on the A38 for us.
You're welcome to borrow our tent if you'd like. You'd probably have to cycle past our house from your side of Bristol anyway. However, it's a 3 man tent, and quite big for the bike! (you can see it strapped to the bar of the tag-a-long in the above picture!). It's doable though, and a nice size once it's up.
