Mid week simple eating

Cheapo pack of chicken from the Co-Op - no doubt the remaindered bits from Poland. Brown in pan on high heat to get colour, add onion, garlic and carrot strips. Soften, add flour and turn the heat down. Best part of pint of cheap cider and two chicken oxos. Add strong Dijon mustard and black pepper. Reduce and put in casserole dish. Get cream and tarragon ready for stirring in just prior to serving. Apple slices in bacon fat and brown sugar to go on top. Boiled potatoes, broccoli and green beans to accompany.

Profiteroles and blueberries for pudding, followed by some prime Perl Las, biscuit selection, and half price port from the Co-Op.

And then for Masterchef the Professionals to see how it's really done.

Simple? Pah!

I'm just going to walk into the hotel restaurant and order-up something ... If I ever get out of this taxi that is ....

Cream, bacon fat, sugar, flour, heart attack!

I had nice roast quorn, roast potatos done with fry light, mixed veg and left over mash with left over sprouts sauted in fry-light - or Bubble & Squeak as it's know in our house. Easy peasy lemon squeazy.

The quiet before the storm.

Butternut squash and sweet potato soup with fried onion, coconut milk, veg. stock and some Thai red paste.

Not bad at all.

Yes, that would certainly work well, but wouldn't you want something with it for a contrast of textures? I'd be tempted to use chilli croutons.

Someone liberated a coffee-flavoured swiss roll, a tin of Celebrations, some TUC biscuits, some Doritos and some Christmassy confection involving mincemeat and icing sugar from the office fuddle. I fear I won't be able to fit into my cycling gear when I go home.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Saucisses piquantes, pommes purées, choux de Savoie. Avec son vin de Saumur Champigny "Puy Notre Dame".
