It's a bit more complicated than that...
Les w sont-ils en France, par hasard? Or are the home counties gradually going all francophone?
Simply a response to the pretension of Llangollen. And I apologise to purists - the Saumur wasn't Saumur Champigny.

Local plonk.

That's no way to refer to Patrick. It's plonker not plonk btw ;)

He's not local either.

Anyhow, the taxi-ride ended badly ....

Despite my colleague instructing him in his native tongue, being shown the address, he managed to whisk me 20km past the hotel before I'd realised it was all going wrong. I gave him the address again and 20 mins later and busting for a pee we arrived in the right place. He wanted to go into the hotel to get the reception guy to tell me I needed to pay him 75, I said I'd pay 40. The Hotel supported my story. He walked away, I followed him but he wouldn't take the offer, so I said OK, I go to my room.
10 mins later, a call from reception. The taxi was still there and wanted the 40 or else he'd call the police. Fine I said, give me a receipt and I'll pay. The security guard acted as a go-between!
I can do without this excitement .... and I need a taxi to the airport in the morning ....

Been nice knowing you...

Cream, bacon fat, sugar, flour, heart attack!

I had nice roast quorn, roast potatos done with fry light, mixed veg and left over mash with left over sprouts sauted in fry-light - or Bubble & Squeak as it's know in our house. Easy peasy lemon squeazy.
How'd you eat a heart attack?

How'd you eat a heart attack?
Just seemed a natural progression.

My Dad had everything with cream, bacon fat and other fatty and rich stuff. Heart attack did for him - or at least the 3rd one did as he absolutely refused to eat 'rabbit food' or at least stuff that wasn't full of fat, cream, alcohol and God alone knows what.

Cheapo pack of chicken from the Co-Op - no doubt the remaindered bits from Poland. Brown in pan on high heat to get colour, add onion, garlic and carrot strips. Soften, add flour and turn the heat down. Best part of pint of cheap cider and two chicken oxos. Add strong Dijon mustard and black pepper. Reduce and put in casserole dish. Get cream and tarragon ready for stirring in just prior to serving. Apple slices in bacon fat and brown sugar to go on top. Boiled potatoes, broccoli and green beans to accompany.

Profiteroles and blueberries for pudding, followed by some prime Perl Las, biscuit selection, and half price port from the Co-Op.

And then for Masterchef the Professionals to see how it's really done.

Ooh, Perl Las. We visited Caws Cenarth while on holiday last year and it has spoiled us for all other cheese. Our favourites were Perl Las and Cennin Cenarth.

~200g of braising steak, cut into 1/4" cubes, ~100g beef kidney done the same way, 2 very large mushrooms cut similarly. Cooked for 6hrs in slow cooker with stock + 1/2 pt porter.

Make ~300g suet pastry (100g suet, 200g sr flour) for 4x 1/2 pudding basins.

Use cooked meat/mushrooms to fill puddings. Steam 45 mins.
