Hi. I'm Stephen, 30 and I'm an Oldbury lad exiled in Birmingham.

I last owned a bike when I was 16 and was mugged for it on a busy dual carriageway near a motorway junction in broad daylight, rush hour. I had only owned it for six weeks and was put off bikes after that. Fourteen years on I decided I wanted to give it another go and at the end of August bought a cheap hybrid. Instantly addicted. I soon moved up to a road bike, which I totally adore.

I live very close to work, less than two miles and commuting by bike is always quicker than the car. Round trips of 20-odd miles with a break in the middle are about the extent of my fitness right now but without any real commitment to training I'm hoping to do a couple of 50-60km audax this year.

Away from cycling I'm a West Bromwich Albion fan and enjoy playing relatively obscure German power metal on my electric ukulele.

Welcome.

You're like me, I live 1.2 miles from work (live/work on the edge of the city centre so traffic is a nightmare) so bikes are always so much quicker.

Hello.
Don't underestimate yourself. It doesn't take much riding for 20 miles to be a gentle warm-up, and 100km Audax events are well within your capability by the end of the season (September/October).
Being a West Brom fan, endurance should be your forté!

Thanks everyone.

B'twin Triban 3 from Decathlon. I don't know much about bikes in all honesty but it's a joy to ride.
