Mike Nesmith passes away at 78

Poor guy has died leaving only Micky Dolenz left of the original group.

He wrote many of the Monkees tunes. After they broke up he released a series of acclaimed country-rock albums in the early 1970s.
Interestingly his mother invented liquid paper leaving him a fortune giving little desire to join with the band on their reunion tours.

Always reminds me of the good times from the sixties.
May he rest in peace.

I must admit to being one of the cool teenagers who disliked the Monkees as a manufactured group, but looking back they were a fun part of pop music and TV in the 60s with some decent songs from Neil Diamond.

Grew up watching the TV series, pre-teenage so they were cool in my mind. Great fun and nice tunes. Loved 'Rio' too. RIP Mike the Monkey

By rights it shouldn't have worked, a band manufactured for a TV show but it just did. The songs were great and the interactions between the guys was genuine and entertaining too.
It was a must watch for me back then.
