He did , he timed it perfect , another few meters ewan would of had it , Mathews hung on for 6th place,

As I have Eurosport I have Brian Smith and Rob Hatch. They have been saying ... er ... sorry. I haven't actually been listening.

I was watching on Eurosport but the pictures are still Italian TV and the commentators are not on site so they do not know all that much more in the faster bits because race radio cannot keep up.

Excellent win by Stuyven. I think there was basically one way he could win from that descending group and he played it out to perfection.

Nah, we would now have 3h20 of too-fast riders standing around waiting for finish control to open!

Another few metres and van Aert or Sagan would probably have had them both.

Yet again a gripping MSR finale - another great opportunistic move by Stuyven, who was lucky Kragh Andersen made it across and then pulled hard, otherwise he wouldn't have had the legs to keep them at bay. Victory from an escape on the Poggio or the run-in is more pleasing and satisfying than by a bunch-sprinting specialist winning in a big-group finish, although I made an exception for Cavendish's win.

Good to see MVDP and WVA both right up there at the end, despite going deep in different ways at Tirreno-Adriatico, and Karl Sagan's looking ominous.
