Re: the moaning, it's just occured to me, these people are mostly comedians, and at the least, presenters. They are paid to talk - where you or I might just sit and recover, they talk. It would be crap telly if they didn't. And comedy often tends to thrive on moaning and complaining - if Les Dawson had said "My mother in law, god bless her, she's lovely", he wouldn't have got laughs.

Good point, though David Walliams bases his whole act on campness. May be very true for kielty though, he was by far the most impressive though.

I suppose my views of it all seeming a bit miserable is because when you watch the clip of lawrence Dallaglio and crews ride (around 3000km) between the 6 nations venues, it seemed like it was tough, but they had a fantastic time doing it. Dellaglio said he'd never laughed do much in one month!

I think that maybe proves my point a bit. He's a sportsman, so talking and acting positively about his activity has probably helped to get him to the top. It's just different outlooks on life.

True, he is 18 stone though, must be very unnatural for him!
There were some actors, musicians etc doing it as well, suppose they purposely chose unfit celebs to do the JoGle though, whereas this one they trained extensively. Makes a bit difference

Your a Cynic ... not one of those celebs need a PR exercise, they are all highly successful in their own field

And more importantly have raised a massive amount of money to help underpriveledged children

There was another Sport Relief event in which Dougie Vipond and Fred Macaulay canoed the length of the Caledonian Canal. They had a problem in that parts of the canal were frozen so they had to carry the canoes. The fact the canal was frozen over gives an indication of the overnight temperatures in their tents as they camped on the canal sides. Brrrrrr.

I saw a bit of Eddie's Marathon run last night - I didn't realise that he hadn't even run one Marathon before he set out to run the 43. He is obviously a far more driven man than I - I would have given up at so many different points on his epic journey.

The Million Pound ride was great-respect to all who took part- except for Nob Carr. What disappointed me was ----that I didnt see Fearne Cotton in Lycra!!!!
Eddie Izzard for Sportsman of the Year---what a guy---what a clown--what a gutsy bloke!

I don't think Freddy Flintoff was too impressed. At one point it looked like he had to stop himself from walking out.

I know it was probably staged but to call him a disgrace I think took it too far. Loved the way he asked Paula Radcliffe though if people had shown her where the loos were

I watched the million pound ride thing last night and was just left with another feeling of celebrity seeks publicity. But you can't 'dis' them coz it's for charity innit. That's not to gainsay the actual effort, I thought it was pretty impressive what the individuals did. I'd have been just as impressed if they'd picked some random non-cyclists off the street. Maybe just have the celebrities working as the support crew.

Live Aid was a one off but the profile it attained for Geldof fired the imagination of many a PR person and wannabe. We see the headline No's for money raised but they never show the costs. Are we expected to believe that everyone involved, and every bit of kit used, were donated free?
