We haven't even thought about Xmas yet, though I have seen the mince pies in the shops, but haven't been tempted yet.

No such luck here, Mrs CB does sponge, that's about it. I made our Christmas cake last week (a little bit late I know), and will be digging through my Mums old cookery book for the scrap of paper with a decent sweet shortcrust pastry recipe on nearer the time.

Not a lover of them but Mrs Dave got some ALDI specials. No lid so maybe more of a mince tart. They have flaked almonds on top and some have sloe gin in.
They are blinkin blumin flipin LOVELY.

I probably post this comment every year, but I love mince pies. Unfortunately they make me fart like Satan's trombone player (any dried fruit has the same effect). Combined with a rather hideous aroma.

I'm the one who bakes them in this house. Usually do a big batch just before Xmas as there wouldn't be any left if I did them any earlier.
