I went to pick up a few bits from the shop the other day and while I was waiting for my card to be processed I waited patiently. I was standing there for some time when the girl behind the counter asked, 'Are you finished?'
I didn't know what she meant until I looked to see that I had just rearranged 3 piles of cards which were on the counter and neatly spaced them out so there there was the same gap between each pile, the outer side of the two piles being perfectly lined up with the edge of the till and the middle one plumb in the centre.
What's going on here then? I don't remember thinking that they were a mess which needed me to fix them, even if I did then I'm sure I wouldn't have done so. Did my body just decide on my its own behalf that it needed to do something without making me aware? The funny thing is, I'm not one of those people who has to have everything in place - or maybe subconsciously I am?
