Any recommendations please for a cycling rucksack/backpack that is big enough to hold a DSLR camera?
(some level of waterproofing would also possibly be handy)

Thanks

Just a DSLR, or with lenses and accesories.
Do you also want to be able to carry any cycling related kit with you?

well, very minimal dslr kit - i.e. perhaps with 2 lenses at most.
Cycle kit - just a mini tool kit

Im a bit anal when it comes to carrying my DSLRs about especially if I am on the bike; so would recommend a camera specific bag as they give extra padding and usually have quite a high level of waterpoofness to them, via either the material used or pull out rain cover. I used to have one of these but got annoyed with the single strap. I then upgraded to one of these with the added bonus of carrying an extra lense and monopod.

ok, I'll have a look, I don't think I need a padded one or something specifically made to carry a camera, just needed one that was just large enough

I like the "Exped" rucksacks for touring with a camera

Small compact and easily folds small for storage in a pannier, but then will take a waterproof, and camera in the evening, or when exploring off the bike

I place the camera in a protective case, then inside the rucksack

The Vango Rapide is an okay small backpack without costing the earth

It has a waterproof cover inside a zipped pocket too, comfy enough for me as a backpack-cycling-hater to wear happily, and central so no flopping to the side. I would put some foam or something at the base of it if carrying a DSLR though.

Comes with a hydration bladder but only a cheapie, so I wouldn't consider that a "feature" - I put a Platypus Hoser in it's place if using it for hiking
