Three hours duration tops.

What's the least you would take, excluding items of clothing, what would you generally take it in? Want to reduce my former everything and the kitchen sink tendencies.

I'm thinking

Spare tubes x 2 to fit my tyres
Co2
Pump (on bike)
Tyre levers
Multitool
£20 note
debit card
mobile phone
All of above in small saddle pack
Etrex (on stem)

What essentials are missing?

That's about what I take, minus the debit card and etrex, and a tenner rather than 20 (maybe southern coffee and cake prices are steeper tho...)

I will no longer fix their bikes for 'em. I may still buy 'em coffee and cake. ;)

House Keys (Yes I do speak from experience - They were still in the door when I got home--- Ooops)

Pretty much what I take really - Debit Card + a couple of snacks. My rule is that if it doesn't fit in the the pockets on my top, it doesn't come with me.
I have very capacious pockets. ;)

No CO2, the pump will do the job (and not leave any junk to be disposed of after use).
A small flapjack bar, or similar (in case I get peckish between stops - I don't normally need it, but it takes up minimal space).

If I was going with a group, and you all have the same wheel size, I'd only bring one tube - assuming everyone brings one. Someone may get two punctures, but if you aren't riding on glass, the average across the group will be less than 1/bicycle.

I always have cable ties with me, and have bodged an emergency repair with them ;)

And I assume you know that you won't need a lock? Otherwise I'd add it to the list.
